We are seeking a full-time permanent Substitute Teacher. The Substitute Teacher is responsible for developing, maintaining, and documenting instructional and behavioral programs within the school setting.  The Substitute Teacher is responsible for overseeing classroom dynamics and functioning of all staff within their classroom. 

Responsibilities:

  • Complete Individualized Education Plan (IEP) process, which includes IEP development, collaboration with multidisciplinary team members, and preparation of required paperwork.
  • Develop lesson plans which keep students actively engaged in learning by using a variety of instructional strategies.  Lesson plans should be tailored to meet the individual needs of students based on IEP goals and objectives, including modifications listed in specially designed instruction.
  • Submit required documentation, including lesson plans, IEPs, report cards, progress reports, evaluation reports, and other related material in a timely manner.
  • Work collaboratively with members of the multidisciplinary team to develop/design and implement appropriate services.
  • Establish and maintain a purposeful, neat, and organized classroom environment.
  • Utilize non-violent crisis intervention techniques and physically assist as necessary.
  • Set clear expectations for students’ behavior and provide and implement behavior management strategies and techniques to control severe student behavior and to maintain a safe and effective learning environment.  Behaviors should be managed in an immediate, consistent, and appropriate manner.
  • Deliver classroom instruction in a meaningful and appropriate way to enable students to progress toward goals outlined in the IEP. Classroom time should be structured and scheduled.
  • Provide appropriate guidance, leadership, and direction to staff within the classroom. 
  • Attends all internal and external meetings, including IEP meetings, multi-disciplinary team meetings, reevaluation meetings, staff meetings, and supervision sessions, etc. as required in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Communicate with parents and encourage parental involvement.

Work Skills:

  • Must possess professional and interpersonal skills, reflecting appropriate boundaries, to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents/guardians, school/company personnel, and coworkers.
  • Must have knowledge of child development, behavior modification techniques, and common behavioral disorders exhibited by children and adolescents.
  • Must have strong organizational, problem-solving and communication skills
  • Must display a professional appearance and demeanor.
