Rebecca School is a developmental program that utilizes the DIRFloortime method, a relationship-based model of teaching instruction developed by Dr. Stanley Greenspan. Rebecca School is opening a new location in Mount Vernon, NY for the 2024 school year and is seeking a Music Therapist to work with students age 3 to 21 with neurodevelopmental delays in relating, communicating and thinking. As a Music Therapist, you will play an integral role in the success of our students, developing treatment plans and goals to improve functional abilities and enhance their ability to learn. Rebecca School North is an expansion of the Rebecca School in NYC after 18 successful years of serving students with neurodevelopment delays in relating and communicating.

Pay Range is $65,000 to $80,000 depending on degree and experience (based on a 12-month position). 


  • Deliver music therapy services to students with special needs
  • Administer assessments to determine a student's ability to use creative music making for engagement and increasing developmental capabilities
  • Prepare written assessments and reports identifying the student's needs and proposed treatment strategies, goals and objectives; maintain progress records
  • Provide students with individual treatment and group therapy sessions to address specific developmental and mental health goals
  • Educate team members on facilitation of implemented techniques or modalities 
  • Collaborate and coordinate music therapy goals with team; communicate with parents or guardians through conferences and other means to discuss student progress
  • Maintain professional competence by attending staff development programs and continuing education programs
  • Participate in weekly Greenspan meetings, team meetings and staff training


  • Master's Degree
  • Valid NYS License 
  • State Certification 
  • Knowledge of DIRFloortime is preferred, but not required
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with students, staff and parents
