Your Role as a Music Therapist

  • Develop and implement evidence-based music therapy interventions that promote emotional, cognitive, and behavioral growth.
  • Document session notes, progress, and billing information accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary team, including BCBAs, therapists, educators, and caregivers, to ensure coordinated, client-centered care.
  • Maintain active Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification to support integration of behavioral and music therapy approaches.
  • Adhere to the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) Code of Ethics and professional standards of practice.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Music Therapy from an AMTA-approved program
  • Active certification through the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CMBT) and uphold continuing education requirements
  • Two years’ experience working with children in behavioral or therapeutic settings
  • Experience supervising and supporting behavior teams is strongly preferred
