Your Role as an Occupational Therapist
- Individualized Therapy Planning & Implementation – Design and deliver occupational therapy interventions tailored to students’ unique sensory and motor needs, supporting their academic and functional success.
- Student Progress Monitoring – Conduct and document school-based pediatric assessments and evaluations, and collect progress monitoring data to inform therapy goals and strategies.
- Sensory & Motor Skill Development – Utilize sensory integration theory and praxis skill development to build foundational skills that enhance students’ performance in school and beyond.
- Collaborative Teamwork – Work closely with a multidisciplinary team including teachers, speech-language pathologists, counselors, and behavior specialists to support student growth in a cohesive, team-based environment.
- Student Advocacy – Participate in the IEP process, ensuring therapy goals align with students’ educational plans and advocating for their developmental and functional needs.
- Engaging Learning Environment – Create and maintain a dynamic, organized, and supportive therapy space that addresses students’ social, emotional, and executive functioning needs.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
- Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Connecticut.
- Experience working with special education populations, preferably in a school setting.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
