Job Title: School Based Clinician (LCSW/LPC)
Location: South Plainfield, NJ 07080
Employment Type: Full-Time (Monday to Friday). Starting in the new 25/26 school year (August)
Salary: Up to $75,000 base salary.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Help students and families gain insight into their difficulties and facilitate change by conducting individual, group and family psychotherapy
  • Provide crisis intervention psychotherapy as needed to address emergent situations during the school day
  • Complete biopsychosocial assessments as part of the intake/referral process, discharge summaries, transition planning and goal progress
  • Maintain student’s clinical file by recording entries of treatment sessions, completing treatment plans and progress reports, and providing information on goal progress in relevant documentation such as IEP’s, I&RS plans, and 504 plans 
  • Prepare discharge summaries and mid-year and end-of-year clinical summaries
  • Prepare clinical presentations for staff meeting regarding issues pertinent to presenting needs
  • Support educational staff through clinical intervention and sharing of knowledge
  • Attend staff meetings and school-related functions as requested

Qualifications:

  • A master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Possess an active LPC or LCSW in New Jersey.
  • Understanding and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds and needs of students and families.
  • Knowledge of developmental theory and interventions with students, groups and families. 
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with best practices in counseling and education.

Preferred/Nice to Have:

  • Previous experience working in a school setting, ideally as an LPC or LCSW.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage crises and implement de-escalation techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to supporting students, especially those with special needs.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Individualized Education Plan (IEP) development and implementation.
