Job Title: Teacher Assistant

Employment Type: Full-Time (Monday to Friday)
Salary: $40,000 to $45,000

Rebecca School is an independent, private therapeutic day school for children ages 3 to 21, promoting the education and development of children with neurodevelopmental delays of relating and communicating, including autism spectrum disorders. Rebecca school was founded in 2006 and utilizes the DIRFloortime® model (Developmental, Individual-difference, Relationship-based) developed by Stanley Greenspan, M.D.

Your Role as a Teacher Assistant

  • Classroom & Instructional Support – Assist the teacher in preparing and implementing lesson plans, providing direct instruction aligned with students’ treatment goals.
  • Student Engagement & Development – Support students’ growth across academic, social-emotional, and physical domains through individualized and structured activities.
  • Supervision & Meetings – Participate in classroom meetings, team discussions, child review sessions, staff training, and ongoing professional development opportunities.
  • Classroom Organization & Maintenance – Maintain a structured, accessible, and safe learning environment by organizing materials and ensuring a balance of engaging and appropriate activities.
  • Collaboration & Communication – Work closely with teachers, therapists, and parents to foster a supportive learning environment, ensuring positive and professional communication at all times.
  • Student Transitions & Support – Assist with classroom routines, transitions, and activities, including field trips, bussing, and building-wide coverage as needed.
  • Daily Living Support – Provide assistance with toileting, diapering, and other self-care needs to promote student independence and well-being.

Preferred (Nice to Have) Qualifications:

  • New York State (NYS) Teaching Assistant Certification
  • Familiarity with the DIRFloortime® Model or experience supporting students using developmental, individualized, and relationship-based approaches.
