Your Role as a Part-time Occupational Therapist (OT) – 2025 – 2026 School Year
- Caseload Management and Service Delivery –Schedule and provide therapy to students on caseload. Determine service frequency and format (group vs. individual). Manage adaptive equipment needs and ensure documentation (evaluations, prescriptions, IEPs) is current.
- Assessment, Goal Setting, and Reporting– Conduct informal assessments and share results with teams and families. Establish therapeutic goals in the fall and write narrative progress reports in the spring.
- Collaboration and Team Participation– Attend weekly team, staff, and department meetings. Collaborate with classroom teams and clinical staff. Coordinate and deliver push-in sessions, including support in PE and Technology classes.
- Family and Community Engagement– Communicate regularly with parents and outside providers. Participate in fall and spring parent conferences and attend 3–4 evening events such as Curriculum Night and Parent Conferences.
- Instructional Programming– Plan and lead specialized classes such as Zones of Regulation, Life Skills, Study Skills, and Handwriting, as applicable.
- Professional Development and Departmental Support– Participate in staff in-services and attend external continuing education opportunities, sharing insights with the team. Contribute to departmental orders and help maintain shared materials and spaces.
- School Responsibilities– Supervise an assigned lunch period and support broader school initiatives as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited college or university.
- New York State certification.
