 Your Role as an Occupational Therapist: 

  • Develop and manage IEPs through the creating and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the
  • Implement individualized IEP goals and objectives aiming to promote fine motor, perceptual motor, self-care, sensory integrative skills, and play activities, as well as neuromuscular function
  • Implement occupational therapy activities to meet student needs and encourage progress.
  • Work collaboratively with members of the student’s multidisciplinary team, other related service professionals, school district personnel, outside service providers, and the student’s family to design and implement appropriate services.
  • Demonstrate appropriate behavior management strategies and techniques, including knowledge of student privileges and responsibilities.
  • Complete quarterly Progress Reports and provide information to parents/guardians and school districts.
  • Attend multidisciplinary team and IEP meetings and other meetings as assigned.
  • Utilize verbal non-violent crisis intervention techniques as needed.
  • Maintain occupational therapy supplies and equipment and order supplies/sensory devices as needed and requested by families/school districts.
  • Assist in the care and use of technical devices and/or assistive equipment if needed.
  • Provide information to teachers and families as requested.
  • Maintain daily billing logs with services provided in relationship to IEP guidelines. Travel to other school locations, as necessary.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Must hold valid OH Occupational Therapy professional license.
  • Must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Sciences, Biology or Psychology or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with child, parent/guardian, multidisciplinary team members, and other personnel involved in child’s educational/behavioral program.
  • Must have knowledge of child development and common behavioral disorders exhibited by children and adolescents.
  • Must have strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Must display a professional appearance and demeanor.
