Your Role as a Behavior Intervention Specialist:
- Assist with the implementation of the student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP)
- Implement effective de-escalation and crisis management techniques, including appropriate response with verbal de-escalation and physical restraints when needed
- Provide direct support to students displaying impulsive or physically aggressive behaviors to ensure the safety of the student and others
- Assist students within the classroom/program setting during participation in special subjects such as Physical Education, vocational programs, and field trips.
- Implement appropriate behavior management strategies and techniques as supervised by Behavior Analyst(s).
- Observe/record data related to behavioral concerns to assess/monitor the progress of the student as needed
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalency
- Minimum of one year experience working with children/adolescents with physically aggressive behaviors
- lift/push/pull up to 65 pounds frequently
- maintain physical comfort in times of prolonged sitting, standing, squatting
- move in an agile manner
Preferred (Nice to Have) Qualifications:
- ability to remain calm in situations that are new and unpredictable
- use of verbal de-escalation skills

- demonstrates moral and ethical decision making
