Senior Human Resources Manager at New Story Schools

Job Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Partnership: Collaborate with the Senior HR Director to develop, implement, and evaluate the human resources strategy, aligning it with the organization’s vision, mission, and goals.
  • Operational Oversight: Provide day-to-day operational oversight for the HR team, working closely with the Senior HR Director. This includes deploying recruitment and retention strategies, managing performance programs, handling employee relations and problem resolution, and overseeing reward and recognition programs and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Recruitment Support: Assist and support recruitment efforts to ensure effective and efficient sourcing and selection of candidates. This may involve attending job fairs and researching innovative tactics for sourcing and selecting the right candidates.
  • HR Management: Manage the HR function and provide guidance on policy interpretation, employment and recruitment processes, benefits, and salary administration, in coordination with the Senior HR Director.
  • Employee Relations: Act as a liaison for employee relations matters, proactively identifying issues and concerns, reporting them timely to the Senior HR Director and operational leadership, and recommending resolution options to minimize legal exposure.
  • Compliance Audits: Oversee routine compliance audits to identify strengths and areas for improvement, as directed by the Senior HR Director.
  • Data Analysis: Work with the Senior HR Director to analyze HR data, including recruitment and retention trends, turnover rates, performance management outcomes, engagement data, and other relevant HR metrics, to enhance operational effectiveness and workforce efficiency.
  • Travel: This role will have 50-75% travel to our different school locations across Ohio. 

Qualifications 

  • Education – Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience – Minimum 5 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 3 years in a HR Business Partner role leading HR initiatives, policies, and teams in a dynamic environment.
  • Strategic Communication – Demonstrate exceptional communication and presentation skills, effectively engaging with employees, leadership, and key stakeholders.
  • HR Operations & Compliance – Possess a deep understanding of HR functions, including employee relations, talent management, compliance, and policy implementation.
  • Tech-Savvy Approach – Utilize Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) to streamline HR processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Problem-Solving & Leadership – Apply strong problem-solving, organizational, and networking skills to navigate complex HR challenges and drive impactful solutions.

Preferred/Nice to Have: 

  • SHRM Certification – Holding a SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification is a plus.
  • HR Leadership Experience – Previous experience as an HR Business Partner or HR Manager is highly desirable.
  • Advanced Education – A Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
