Join Green Tree School & Services, an Approved Private School (APS) providing specialized, full-time out-of-district placements for students with emotional and autism support needs. Our multidisciplinary team, including special education teachers, therapists, and counselors, delivers a holistic approach with evidence-based interventions to support each student’s unique journey. Through individualized instruction, community integration, and programs in art, music, and vocational training, we empower students to reach their full potential.

Under the direct supervision of the Food Services Manager, the Food Services Worker will support meal preparation, cafeteria sanitation, and record keeping for all school food services programs. Food Service programs include the National School Lunch Program, the School Breakfast Program, and some catering, as needed, for school events. Essential duties will include food safety & sanitation, and meal preparation.

  • Consistent Pay: Same hourly rate for all work, with no differentiation between billable and non-billable hours, and no reductions for patient cancellations  
  • Schedule: 35 to 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Hours are 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM on Monday, Thursday, and Friday, and 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM on Tuesday and Wednesday. No nights or weekends.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Supports the food services team in maintaining the kitchen, serving, and dining areas in a neat, clean, safe, and sanitary condition following approved housekeeping and safety practices.
  • Participates in the cleaning schedule for production areas, as assigned.
  • Demonstrates established standards, methods, and procedures to employees for food safety at GTSS school, in accordance with USDA, HACCP and State regulations, Health Department standards and Food Services Department standards and procedures.
  • Maintains clean, well-organized storage areas, including freezers, refrigerators, and dry storage areas.
  • Supports meal preparation in adherence of standardized recipes for meal service.
  • Compliant with approved food preparation and service procedures, including the use of standardized recipes, portion control, presentation, compliance with HACCP, in the absence of the Food Services Manager.
  • Participates in taste testing & evaluation of new products, recipes, and methods of preparation. Supports student taste testing events, under the direction of the Food Services Manager.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned by the Lead Food Services Worker or Food Services Manager, or senior school administration.

Qualifications: 

  • At least 18 years of age.  
  • High school diploma or equivalent.  
  • ServSafe Certification- Food Handler is required.
  • A genuine passion for working with children, along with patience and compassion. 
  • Minimum of one year of related experience in an educational setting.

Preferred/Nice to have:  

  •  Experience working with children with special needs or autism through volunteer work, employment, or other relevant experiences.
