Job Responsibilities:
- Provide therapeutic support by conducting counseling services through individual, group, and family sessions based on needs assessments.
- Support designated classroom students, classroom staff and teachers to implement strategies for student progress with the goal of student progress and improvement.
- Work within a multi-disciplinary team consisting of School Social Workers, Psychologists, Guidance Counselors, and School Administrators.
- Provide social skills instruction through planning and delivering engaging social skills programs.
- Provide behavioral guidance by sharing expertise on behavior change principles with classroom staff.
- Assists in the collection of quality indicator data.
- Provide Crisis Screening and Intervention when needed.
- Help students and their families gain insights to facilitate positive transformations.
- Offer staff consultation to district staff through regular meetings.
Qualifications:
- A master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Post-graduate supervision experience with completion of 3,000 hours of supervised clinical experience over at least two years.
- Possess an active Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) certificate or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) certificate.
- Demonstrated understanding of Individualized Education Plan (IEP) development and implementation.
- Understanding and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds and needs of students and families.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with best practices in counseling and education.
Preferred/Nice to have:
- Previous experience working in a school setting, ideally as an LPC or LCSW.
- Proven ability to effectively manage crises and implement de-escalation techniques.
- Excellent communication skills, with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to supporting students, especially those with special needs.
