Special Education Paraprofessional at New Story Schools

New Story Schools provides special education for students ages 5-22 in grades K-12 across Pennsylvania and Ohio. We offer small class sizes, individualized learning plans, and use evidence-based strategies through our team of educators, behavior analysts, and therapists to help students overcome challenges and achieve their goals.

What we offer:   

  • Compensation: $16.50 – $18.50 per hour based on education and experience   
  • Consistent Pay: Same hourly rate for all work, with no differentiation between billable and non-billable hours, and no reductions for student cancellations   
  • Schedule: 35 to 40 Hours, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM (No nights, No weekends)   
  • Paid Time Off: 12 days of PTO plus school holidays, and spring, winter and summer break pay*

Job Responsibilities:   

  • Assist the teacher in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs   
  • Provide support in the classroom by helping students with their academic tasks, including literacy and math activities 
  • Assist students with self-help skills, including toileting, feeding, and personal hygiene, to promote independence 
  • Monitor student progress and behavior, providing feedback to teachers to help adjust teaching strategies, as necessary   

 

Qualifications:   

  • At least 18 years of age   
  • High school diploma or equivalent   
  • A genuine passion for working with children, along with patience and compassion 

 

Preferred/Nice to have:   

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in psychology or related field
  • Experience working with children with special needs or autism through volunteer work, employment, or other relevant experiences
