Meloria Academy is seeking a Chief School Administrator. In this role, you will direct the operations of the Meloria Academy in its entirety and ensure that the School functions as a top tier special education program. Meloria Academy is a private K-12 school whose mission is to serve students with learning disabilities in the areas of reading, writing, and math in addition to attention, sensory and social challenges. In a safe and supportive school climate, the goal is to maximize students’ potential in order for them to become confident, successful citizens of their community.
Salary Range: Depending on skills, qualifications and experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES | WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- In consultation with the Governing Board, prepares the agenda for each meeting of the Board.
- Participates in all deliberations of the Governing Board, except for those instances when the Board is discussing the performance and/or compensation of the Chief Administrator and asks her not to be present.
- Recommends to the Governing Board policies on all matters that are related to the effective operation of the school.
- Develops administrative principles and procedures for implementing Board policies, and with staff, provides appraisal, when needed, of all policies originating with the Governing Board.
- Directs planning on all matters that are related to the effective operation of the school.
- Communicates actions of the Governing Board to employees and receives from employees all
- communications to be made to the Board.
- Recommends employees to the Board for appointment or dismissal.
- Acts on his/her own discretion if action is necessary on any matter that is not covered by Board policy and reports to the Board as soon as possible.
QUALIFICATIONS | WHAT YOU BRING
- Masters of Social Work or Counseling Degree Preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in a special education setting
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with staff, parents, students and the public
