Inclusion Intervention Specialist

Primary job responsibility is to provide support, supervision, and consultative services to children and staff in the ABS center. This support and educational oversight may be provided in an educational oversight (consultative) model, a 1:1, 1:2, or small group setting within the agency following ABA methodology and procedures and to facilitate peer interactions when appropriate. This may include monitoring children during lunch duties, recess or other non-instructional times, as needed.

The Learning Spectrum in Columbus, OH is seeking a qualified Intervention Specialist, to manage all functions within their assigned classrooms, including service delivery, reporting, and management of classroom assistants and aides. Additionally, as members of the Senior Staff, Teachers will be held to a high standard of service delivery and conduct. They will set the standard for Staff members in all professional areas and are expected to provide proper leadership within their classrooms.

Assessment/Evaluation

  •  Conduct assessments and evaluations to determine students’ learning needs and areas of intervention.
  •  Administer standardized tests, observations, and other assessment tools.
  •  Analyze assessment results to develop individualized intervention plans when needed.

 

Intervention Planning and Implementation

  •  Provide intervention services to contract students as prescribed in contract, and ODE students as prescribed.
  •  Identify when education interventions are needed for specific clients.
  •  Adapt instructional materials and methods to meet the diverse needs of students.
  •  Provide direct teaching to students, both in a pull out or a push in scenario, when needed.
  •  Prepare educational materials for each level of students, creating a proper framework by functioning level or grade level, if needed.
  •  Create with a variety of stimuli appropriate for the needs of our students, including lessons for activity bins.

Supervision/Collaboration and Consultation

  •  Responsible for direct supervision for a caseload of Behavior Technicians as assigned by Clinical Director
  •  Monitor and provide feedback on procedural and professional growth of Behavior Technicians on caseload; identify professional goals and oversee professional development
  •  Provide consultative intervention specialist services across all classrooms providing direct modeling and training of methods to staff members in classrooms as needed.
  •  Create and follow a schedule for observations, consultations, and lesson planning.
  •  Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and administrators to coordinate intervention efforts.
  •  Consult on all Jon Peterson Special Needs scholarship clients, supervising all
  •  programming and providing direct intervention.
  •  Provide consultation and guidance to teachers regarding effective instructional strategies and accommodations.
  •  Communicate regularly with parents and provide updates on students’ progress and interventions.
  •  Work with the leadership to identify and administer proper curriculum, assessments and learning materials.

Progress Monitoring and Data Collection

  •  Collect and analyze data to measure student progress and intervention effectiveness.
  •  Utilize data to inform instructional decisions and modify interventions accordingly.
  •  Maintain accurate records and documentation of student data and progress.

 

Documentation

 

  • Track and document extra hours needed for clients that will not meet 1,000 hours due to attendance or placement and communicate the hours needed to parents quarterly.
  • Review and sign off on all written narrative reports.
  • Provide complete and detailed documentation for interventions provided to a client as required to include but not limited to: Central Reach notes, progress reporting, IEP and ETR.
  • Complete progress report sections and/or other documents required for contract clients.
  • Complete and upload assessments to ODE portal for Jon Peterson scholarship students.
  • Responsible for the creation, monitoring and completion of all EMIS documents for students who attend the center via district contract.

Behavior Management and Support:

  • Implement behavior management strategies and behavior support plans.
  • Collaborate with the school’s behavior team or professionals to develop/review behavior intervention plans, when needed.

Professional Development and Training

  • Stay updated on best practices and research in the field of intervention and special education.
  • Attend professional development workshops, conferences, and training sessions.
  • Responsible for keeping all certifications or licensures current and active.
  • Knowing, understanding, and following licensure requirements and limitations.
  • Provide training on educational materials as needed to groups of staff or individual staff members.
  • Train staff on activities, lesson plans, and protocol for activity bins.

Office/Other

  • Responsible for checking their email and mailbox daily. Answer questions from staff within a timely manner and engages in frequent communication and collaboration with BT’s on caseloads.
  • Responsible for sharing responsibility for late child pickups i.e. calling, staying with the child etc.

Secondary Job duties:

  • Use professional language when describing the client, children and/or behaviors.
  • Lift and transport clients across the room or as necessary while maintaining their safety.
  • Learn and continually demonstrate core competencies for the position.
  • Participate in all fundraising activities through distribution of materials and information.
  • Attend designated fundraising and public relations events as requested.
  • Participate in staff development, education and training. Training may be provided by direct supervision, attendance at conferences and workshops internal and external to ABS, online training, educational coursework, etc. Training shall include at minimum topics that maintain or increase competency, topics specific to the population served, and cultural competency in your provision of service.
  • Read and follow all company policy and procedures found in the employee handbook, P&P and other documents.
  • Communicate in a professional manner with coworkers and parents.
  • Seek, receive and apply feedback appropriately and professionally.
  • Dress appropriately and arrive on time for work.
  • Meet productivity requirements, if applicable.
  • Perform other duties as directed.
  • Follow state, federal, and local law, and all other policies and procedures that do not fall under the above responsibilities.
  • Minimum Qualifications (knowledge and skills):
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, Microsoft, computer, internet navigation, email management, ability to learn quickly, detail oriented, organizational skills, punctuality, good attendance, good customer service skills, ability to play with children, ability to change diapers, ability to toilet train.
