Head Teacher for Library/Technology

Aaron School is a private special education school in Manhattan that provides integrated academic, enrichment, and therapeutic services to students with learning differences, with the goal of enabling them to become confident and successful learners. Aaron School is seeking a Head Teacher for Library/Technolgy for the 2024-2025 school year at its 45th Street location (Elementary/Middle School division). Offering an academically rigorous curriculum aligned with the New York State Learning Standards, Aaron employs an individualized approach to ensure student achievement while preparing them for post-secondary educational experiences and professional careers.
Candidate must hold NYS teaching certification. Special Education certification and experience preferred.
Salary range $60,000-$65,000

RESPONSIBILITIES | WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Develop short- and long-term goals for every student grades K-5 and teaches weekly library classes.
  • Develop short- and long-term goals for every student grades K-3 and 6-7 and teaches weekly technology classes.
  • Write weekly lesson plans
  • Responsible for generating three written reports (Fall, Midyear, Spring) and is available to parents during conferences for updates.
  • Attend Curriculum Night
  • Responsible for the appearance and maintenance of the library, preparation of materials, ordering and cleaning.
  • Knowledgeable of Follett System
  • Collaborate with teachers on research projects and serves a resource for the school.
  • Observe and evaluate the progress of each child and develop strategies for helping children build on their strengths, develop independence and enhance new areas of development.

QUALIFICATIONS | WHAT YOU BRING

  • Masters degree in special education or library science
  • Special Education teaching experience preferred
